As a member of a two-persons team, I worked in an Antarctic research outpost, Tor, studying three bird species nesting in the area. Each year, Antarctic petrel, Snow petrel and South polar skua migrate from the Southern Ocean to lay eggs and raise their chicks in the harshest known conditions in bird rearing. The rocky slopes of Svarthamaren mountain - a cold and windy massive, 1600 meters above the sea lever and 200 kilometer away from the coast, provide a relative refuge in the continent where solid ground is a rare commodity.
